iPhone 17 Air: Apple’s Thinnest iPhone Yet

iPhone 17 Air: Apple Moves Towards Slimmer Smartphones

Apple is advancing towards making slimmer smartphones. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be the thinnest iPhone ever. Apple was also planning another bold move with this phone—completely removing the USB-C port. However, due to European Union regulations, this was not possible. If Apple had succeeded in its plan, the upcoming iPhone would have had no ports at all. This information comes from Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple insider.

In a Bloomberg article, Gurman revealed that Apple executives were considering removing the USB-C port entirely from future iPhones. However, EU regulations prevented this from happening. Previously, Apple did not even provide USB-C ports until the EU forced them to do so.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, Dynamic Island, and a camera control button. However, no improvements are expected in battery life, which has been a common complaint among iPhone users. Many users claim that after some time, the iPhone battery starts degrading quickly.

Despite this, Gurman suggests that in the future, iPhones without charging ports are still a possibility. Reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Air will have a thickness of 5.5mm, which is sufficient for a USB-C port. In comparison, the thinnest smartphone, the Oppo Find N5, also includes a USB-C port.

If Apple starts removing USB-C ports, it could fully transition to wireless charging iPhones. Reports indicate that Apple wants to make iPhones even thinner, but the requirement for a USB-C port is limiting their design choices. The company is currently testing the iPhone 17 Air, and if successful, it may launch even thinner, completely portless iPhones in the future.
