A Golden Opportunity for Indian Students to Study in British Schools
"Eligibility Criteria, Application Process, and Key Details for Indian Students Aged 4 to 17"

The universities in the UK are renowned worldwide for their education. For over 100 years, students from India have been going to the UK to pursue their studies. Many prominent Indian freedom fighters earned their degrees from British universities. Just as British universities are respected globally, the schools in the UK are also highly regarded. Some of the best schools in the world are located in the UK, and Indian students can apply for admission to study there as well.
However, to study at a school in the UK, a visa is required. For Indian students, or any foreign students aged between 4 and 17, there is an excellent opportunity to study in the UK. The British government offers a Child Student Visa for students in this age range. To obtain this visa, certain conditions must be met. Let’s explore how this visa can be obtained and what the eligibility criteria are.
The time taken to approve a visa application depends on the applicant’s location. Those applying from outside the UK can apply up to six months before their course starts, and a decision is usually made within three weeks. Similarly, students already in the UK should apply three months before their course begins, and it typically takes around eight weeks for the visa to be issued.
The duration of stay on a Child Student Visa depends on the student’s age and the length of the course. Students under 16 can stay for the duration of the course (up to 6 years) and an additional four months. Students aged 16 or 17 can stay for the duration of the course (up to 3 years) plus an extra four months.
Students can arrive in the UK up to one month before their course starts. If they need to stay longer, they can also apply for a visa extension. The application fee for those applying from outside the UK is £490, and they must also pay a healthcare surcharge. Importantly, students on a Child Student Visa can only attend private schools and are allowed to work part-time for up to 10 hours a week.
