The brutal murder and rape of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata has sparked nationwide protests. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now leading the investigation into the case.

A list of 30-35 people, primarily friends of the victim, has been compiled by the CBI based on information provided by the victim’s family. The agency is also summoning doctors and students from the hospital.

Hospital guards and Kolkata police security personnel are under the CBI’s radar. The victim’s family suspects the involvement of more people in the crime.

The CBI has recorded statements of over 10 people, including the victim’s family, in the past three days. A crime scene recreation was conducted with the accused to verify his statements to the Kolkata police and CBI.

The victim’s family has named certain doctors and students who the CBI will question. The agency is also investigating the possibility of illegal activities within the hospital that might be linked to the crime.
