Tata Motors’ Big SUV Plans for 2025
Sierra Returns and Harrier EV Set to Lead Tata's SUV Revolution
The year 2025 is set to be remarkable for Tata Motors as the homegrown automaker is gearing up to introduce several exciting new products in the SUV segment. One of the highlights is the return of the iconic Sierra, an SUV that once played a significant role in establishing Tata Motors’ identity. This legendary model was showcased earlier this year at the Mobility Expo, and reports suggest that its production-ready version might hit the market next year. Additionally, the electric version of the popular Harrier SUV is also expected to make its debut in 2025.
The Tata Harrier EV, unveiled at the Mobility Expo in February, received immense appreciation and is now set to roll onto Indian roads next year. It is anticipated to feature a powerful battery pack offering a range of up to 600 kilometers on a single charge. With its stunning design and advanced features, the Harrier EV is expected to set a new benchmark in the electric SUV market.
In the first half of 2025, Tata Motors is also set to bring back the Sierra SUV, built on the electrified modular architecture (EMA) platform. The Sierra will be offered with multiple powertrain options, including electric, petrol, and diesel variants. The electric version is expected to deliver a range of over 500 kilometers, and all models will boast a stylish, boxy design coupled with premium features.
It’s worth noting that the electric vehicle (EV) segment in India is witnessing a surge in innovation and competition. While Tata Motors is making strides, Mahindra & Mahindra is also launching its new XUV and BE-branded electric SUVs this month. Hyundai, on the other hand, is set to introduce the electric version of its top-selling Creta SUV early next year, further heating up the race in the Indian EV market.
