Army Called in to Capture Man-Eating Panther Terrorizing Udaipur Villages

For the first time in Rajasthan, the army has been called in to handle a wild animal situation. The forest department and villagers had been struggling, but now the army has stepped in with specialized equipment. The incident took place in the Gogunda area of Udaipur, known as the city of lakes. In the surrounding forest, a man-eating panther has started claiming human lives. Within just two days, it dragged three people into the jungle and killed them.
Administrative officer Dr. Naresh Soni informed that a small army unit was deployed late Friday night in Chhala village. Eight soldiers arrived with special equipment. The panther has killed two men and one woman within a 5-kilometer radius near the village in the span of two days, devouring parts of their bodies. Just about 12 days ago, this same panther had dragged a woman off the road into the jungle and killed her. Two days later, her family found only her bones.
Apart from the army, forest department officials from Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Rajsamand districts have also joined efforts to capture the panther. They have set up five cages around the village with goats inside as bait. However, the forest officials stated that the panther is extremely cunning. Its tracks have been spotted near the cages, but it has not entered them yet. Due to the panther’s presence, people are only leaving their homes in groups. After dusk, a curfew-like atmosphere has descended on all the nearby villages. The army is using special binoculars and weapons in their search for the elusive predator.
