PM’s reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in Rajya Sabha

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, responded to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to Parliament in the Rajya Sabha today. He began by expressing gratitude to the President for the inspiring speech and thanked the approximately 70 members who shared their views. Reflecting on India’s democratic journey, he noted the historic achievement of the electorate bringing back the government for a third consecutive term after 60 years. Modi criticized the opposition for attempting to undermine this decision, observing that they have accepted their defeat with a heavy heart. Confidently, he stated that the current government has completed only one-third of its potential tenure, and emphasized the public’s support for the government’s efforts over the past decade.

Shri Modi highlighted the significance of India entering the 75th year of its Constitution, coinciding with the Parliament’s 75th anniversary. He praised the Constitution, particularly for enabling individuals without political lineage, like himself, to serve the country. Despite initial opposition, he noted that commemorating Constitution Day has spread awareness and understanding among students through activities like essays, debates, and extempore competitions. Modi declared plans to celebrate the Constitution’s 75th year as a “Jan Utsav” to ensure nationwide celebrations. The Prime Minister hailed the electorate’s support for his government, viewing their vote as a mandate to achieve goals like ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Atamnirbhar Bharat’. Highlighting India’s economic rise from the tenth to the fifth largest economy, Modi expressed confidence in further advancements and reiterated his commitment to accelerating development and eradicating poverty through good governance in the next five years. He also predicted a significant global impact from India’s growth, especially with the rise of Indian startups and the development of tier 2 and tier 3 cities as new growth engines.
