Citroën Aircross Struggles in Midsize SUV Segment Despite Updates and Competitive Pricing
Sales of Citroën Aircross remain low, with only 41 units sold in September 2024, as it faces stiff competition in the midsize SUV market.

The midsize SUV segment is performing well in the Indian market, with strong sales from brands like Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Kia Seltos, Toyota, Honda, and even Skoda-Volkswagen. However, amid this competition, one company has introduced an affordable midsize SUV that has been struggling in recent months. We’re talking about Citroën’s C3 Aircross, the popular French brand’s SUV, which sold only 41 units in September 2024. In fact, its sales in August were even lower.
Looking at recent sales reports, the Citroën C3 Aircross managed to sell just 41 units in September 2024, representing a year-on-year drop of nearly 90%. A year earlier, in September 2023, the SUV had sold 400 units. However, on a monthly basis, the sales have improved slightly. In August 2024, Citroën sold just 38 units, which means September saw an 8% increase in sales. Despite this small improvement, the C3 Aircross continues to face significant challenges in a highly competitive segment.
Recently, Citroën launched an updated version of the C3 Aircross but dropped the “C3” from the name, and now the SUV is simply called the Citroën Aircross. The new Citroën Aircross is priced from ₹8.49 lakh to ₹14.55 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has added several new features to the SUV, including LED projector headlamps and standard six airbags. The Citroën Aircross offers two engine options: a 1.2-liter PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine and a 1.2-liter Generation 3 PureTech 110 turbo petrol engine, producing 82bhp and 110bhp, respectively.
Despite these updates and its competitive pricing, the Citroën Aircross continues to face tough challenges from its rivals, and it has yet to make a significant impact in the midsize SUV market.
