Separatist Attack Claims Lives of Seven Pakistani Soldiers
"Seven Soldiers Killed, 15 Injured in Kalat Assault; Second Major Attack in a Week"
In Pakistan’s Balochistan province, separatists have launched yet another attack on a military camp. On Friday night, a military base in Kalat came under assault, resulting in the deaths of at least seven Pakistani soldiers and injuries to 15 others. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement shared with the media. News outlet Khorasan Diary reported on the incident, marking it as the second major attack by Baloch rebels within a week.
According to reports, the attack on Kalat’s Shah-e-Mardan post began at around 9:45 PM on Friday. The rebels launched a coordinated strike, surrounding the military camp and giving Pakistani troops little time to respond. Seven soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) were killed, and 15 others were injured in the assault.
Recent Wave of Violence
This attack follows a suicide bombing at Quetta Railway Station on October 9, which killed 25 Pakistani soldiers and injured over 40 others. The attack occurred as the Zafar Express train, carrying soldiers, was about to depart. The BLA’s Majeed Brigade, known for conducting suicide missions, claimed responsibility, stating that one of its members detonated explosives near the soldiers.
Surge in Attacks Against Pakistani Forces
In recent months, violence has intensified in Balochistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions. Both the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) and Baloch separatists have escalated their operations against the military. Last month, a significant attack by Baloch insurgents resulted in the deaths of over 60 people in a single day.
These incidents highlight the growing challenges faced by Pakistan’s security forces in tackling separatist movements and militant groups.
