Kapil Sharma Show Faces Legal Trouble Over Tagore Allegations
Accused of Misrepresenting Tagore’s Legacy and Hurting Cultural Sentiments

Once again, comedian Kapil Sharma has landed in legal trouble, this time related to his show The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show. A legal notice has been issued to the show, accusing it of allegedly disrespecting Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy and hurting cultural and religious sentiments.
The president of the Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF), through his legal advisor Nripendra, has expressed concerns, accusing the show of misrepresenting cultural aspects and diminishing Tagore’s legacy. The legal notice, issued on November 1, claims that the series not only tarnishes the legacy of the Nobel laureate but also offends religious sentiments.
Before its arrival on Netflix, The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show was produced by Salman Khan’s production house. Amid reports of a legal notice being served to the production company, they clarified that they have no current association with the Netflix version of the show. In an official statement, the production house stated, “We are not connected with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Some reports suggest that Salman Khan/SKTV received a legal notice, which is incorrect. The production house has no involvement in the show’s current Netflix operations and is not affected by the legal notice in any way.”
Kapil Sharma’s The Great Indian Kapil Show returned with its second season on Netflix, premiering on September 21 this year. The show also features Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajeev Thakur.
