Kangana Ranaut & Javed Akhtar Settle Legal Dispute
Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar End Legal Battle Amicably

The long-standing legal battle between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar has finally come to an end. In 2020, Kangana filed a defamation case against Javed Akhtar, sparking a legal feud that lasted for years. However, the matter has now been resolved, and according to Kangana, Javed Akhtar has even agreed to write songs for her upcoming film.
On Friday, February 28, Kangana shared a picture with Javed Akhtar on her Instagram story. The two were seen standing together in court, smiling at the camera. Along with the photo, Kangana wrote, “Today, Javed Ji and I have mutually resolved our legal dispute (defamation case).”
She further added, “Javed Ji has been very kind and gracious. He has also agreed to write songs for my next directorial film.”
The conflict between Kangana and Javed Akhtar dates back to 2016 when Kangana was involved in a controversy with Hrithik Roshan. At that time, their alleged email exchanges were making headlines. Since Javed Akhtar was close to Hrithik Roshan’s family, he reportedly invited Kangana to his home and advised her to apologize to Hrithik.
Kangana remained silent on the issue for years but brought it up again in 2020 during the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. In a TV interview, she claimed that Javed Akhtar had threatened her, saying she would face consequences if she continued to trouble Hrithik.
Following this, Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana. In response, she also filed a counter-defamation suit. However, the court later dismissed Kangana’s case, citing a lack of strong evidence, while Javed Akhtar’s case continued. Now, both parties have settled the matter amicably.
