Kia Sonet Reaches New Heights in Sales
"Feature-Rich Compact SUV Leads with Petrol Variants and Sunroof Demand"
Kia Motors’ new Sonet facelift has created a buzz in the market, crossing the milestone of 1 lakh sales within just 11 months of its launch. Introduced in January 2024, this car starts at ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Averaging 10,000 units sold per month, the petrol variant has emerged as the top choice among buyers, with a notable demand for models equipped with a sunroof. According to Kia’s Senior VP, this success stems from understanding customer needs.
The new Kia Sonet is available in 22 variants with six different powertrain options. Sales data reveals that 76% of customers prefer the petrol engine, while 24% opt for the diesel variant. Automatic and Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) variants account for 34% of total sales. The iMT system simplifies driving by automatically handling the clutch in a manual transmission car.
Sunroof variants have seen tremendous demand, making up 79% of total sales. Safety-wise, the Sonet offers 15 standard safety features, 10 Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, and over 70 connected car features. ADAS includes technologies like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking, enhancing driving safety. The connected car features allow users to control various functions via a smartphone.
In terms of maintenance, the Sonet is cost-effective. The petrol variant’s maintenance cost is 16% lower than the segment average, while the diesel variant’s is 14% lower. The car is available in 5 interior color options, 8 monotone, 2 dual-tone, and 1 matte-finish exterior color options.
Kia’s Senior VP for Sales and Marketing, Hardeep Singh Brar, stated, “At Kia, we prioritize understanding customer needs and delivering solutions to meet them. The new Sonet, with its premium features, has elevated the segment and significantly contributed to our strong sales performance.”
This combination of features, performance, and pricing has made the new Sonet a favorite among customers.
