Preity Zinta Denies Loan Waiver Allegations

Preity Zinta Denies Loan Waiver Allegations, Calls It Fake News

On Tuesday, Preity Zinta took to social media to refute claims made by Kerala Congress, which alleged that she had her ₹18 crore loan waived off with BJP’s help. The actress called these reports fake and criticized the party for spreading misinformation.

On Monday, Kerala Congress shared a post on its X handle stating, “Preity Zinta handed over her social media accounts to the BJP and, in return, got her ₹18 crore loan waived off. Last week, the bank suffered losses, and now depositors are protesting for their money.”

In response, Preity Zinta reposted the claim and slammed the party, writing, “No, I manage my own social media accounts, and you should be ashamed for promoting fake news. No one has waived off anything for me, and no loan has been forgiven.”

She further expressed her shock that a political party or its representatives were using her name and pictures to spread false information, gossip, and clickbait. “For the record, a loan was taken and fully repaid more than 10 years ago. I hope this clarification helps prevent future misunderstandings,” she added.

Recently, reports suggested that the New India Cooperative Bank had written off a ₹18 crore loan linked to Preity Zinta.

Notably, the New India Cooperative Bank had faced financial troubles due to irregularities, which affected customers’ access to their funds. Reports claimed that the bank had granted large loans without proper compliance and later waived them off, with Preity Zinta’s name being mentioned among the beneficiaries.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had imposed a six-month withdrawal limit on the bank, restricting customers from accessing their funds. It also halted the issuance of new loans. However, on Monday, RBI eased some restrictions, allowing depositors to withdraw up to ₹25,000 from their accounts starting February 27.
