World Human Rights Day Celebrated in Nalbari

World Human Rights Day Observed at Nalbari with Distinguished Guests on the Foundation day 10 December 2024

Nalbari, December 10, 2024: The International Human Rights Council, Assam State Board, in collaboration with its Food and Public Distribution Department, commemorated World Human Rights Day with a special event at Santi Niwas Briddha Ashram, Nalbari. The occasion highlighted the significance of serving humanity and fostering respect for human rights, drawing an audience of prominent dignitaries and community members.

The event commenced with the dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the initiation of a noble cause. Among the esteemed guests were Sahityik Pensioner Gukul Chandra Deka, Dipul Talukdar (President, Nalbari District Bar Association), Jyotish Chandra Bhuyan (Principal), Jogesh Kalita (General Secretary, AJYCP Nalbari), Nirajuddin Ahmed (President, AASU Nalbari District), Rajan Upadhyay (Ex-Vice President, AJYCP), and Diganta Mishra (Ex-Assistant General Secretary, AJYCP).

In his inaugural address, Mr. Karan Kumar Bhuyan, Chairman of the International Human Rights Council’s Food and Public Distribution Department (State Board), shed light on the importance of service to humanity as a cornerstone of human rights advocacy. He announced a commendable initiative to provide 30 days of food supplies to the 50 elderly residents of Santi Niwas Briddha Ashram, emphasizing that such acts of kindness resonate deeply with the values of compassion and community support.
“This initiative is not just about providing food; it’s about acknowledging the divinity of life and upholding human dignity,” Mr. Bhuyan stated. He stressed the significance of human values in fostering a society where mutual respect and care for the vulnerable are prioritized. His words inspired the audience, underscoring that small yet meaningful contributions can lead to transformative change.

The dignitaries shared their thoughts on the occasion, aligning their messages with the global theme of World Human Rights Day. Sahityik Pensioner Gukul Chandra Deka spoke about the role of literature in promoting human values and justice. Dipul Talukdar, as a legal expert, emphasized the constitutional rights of the elderly and the collective responsibility to protect and uphold these rights. Jyotish Chandra Bhuyan reflected on the role of education in nurturing empathy and social consciousness among youth.

Jogesh Kalita and Nirajuddin Ahmed discussed the responsibilities of youth organizations in fostering a culture of humanitarian service, while Rajan Upadhyay and Diganta Mishra shared their experiences in community service, urging the audience to participate actively in similar initiatives.
