REET 2024: New Pattern and Negative Marking

Introducing Five Options Per Question, Negative Marking Now Includes Unanswered Questions

The notification for the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) has been released on the official website, rajasthan.rajeduboard.gov.in. What’s surprising this time is the new examination pattern for REET. In the upcoming REET exam, each multiple-choice question (MCQ) will have five options instead of the usual four. According to RBSE Board Secretary Kailashchand Sharma, this is the first time such a change is being implemented in the REET exam.

Additionally, a new rule regarding negative marking has also been introduced. Previously, marks were deducted for incorrect answers, which led candidates to skip questions they were unsure about to avoid losing marks. However, this will no longer be an option. The Board Secretary stated that candidates are now required to answer every question. Leaving a question blank will also result in negative marking. This is where the fifth option will come into play, providing candidates with an alternative.

It is worth noting that a similar rule was implemented in the Rajasthan CET Exam 2024, and now the same approach is being applied to REET.

What is REET?

The Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) is mandatory for candidates aspiring to become government teachers in Rajasthan. While passing the REET exam is a necessary qualification, it does not guarantee a job. Instead, the REET certificate makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching vacancies.

The REET exam is conducted in two levels:

  • REET Level 1 qualifies candidates to teach classes 1 to 5.
  • REET Level 2 qualifies candidates to teach classes 6 to 8.

Candidates can visit the official website to check the exam dates and other details.
