BSNL IFTV: Unlimited Fiber-Based TV Streaming
"High-Quality Live TV & OTT Streaming with No Data Limits"
State-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the launch of its first fiber-based intranet TV service, called IFTV, in select regions across the country. This service will leverage BSNL’s Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network to provide high-quality streaming, starting initially in regions like Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Through this service, BSNL customers will have access to over 500 live TV channels, including pay TV content and other live TV offerings.
Last month, BSNL introduced a new logo alongside six new features, including the IFTV service. Previously, the company also launched Wi-Fi roaming, allowing customers to connect to BSNL hotspots nationwide for high-speed internet, thereby reducing data costs.
BSNL highlighted on social media platform X that unlike private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio—where data used for live TV streaming is deducted from the customers’ monthly data quota—data used for BSNL’s IFTV service will be separate from regular data packs, providing unlimited streaming at no extra cost for FTTH customers.
In addition to live TV, BSNL’s IFTV will support popular OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, YouTube, and ZEE5, as well as offer access to games. Initially, the service is only compatible with Android TVs. To access IFTV, customers can download the BSNL Live TV app from the Google Play Store, and to subscribe, they need to register on the BSNL Selfcare app.
With the growing popularity of OTT platforms and streaming apps over recent years, BSNL’s new service aims to expand its reach in the entertainment content sector.
