Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor Face Legal Action Over Inappropriate Content in Web Series
"POCSO Act Case Filed Against Alt Balaji's 'Gandii Baat' for Depicting Explicit Scenes Involving Minors"

Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have landed in legal trouble. They are facing charges under the POCSO Act for allegedly depicting inappropriate scenes involving minor girls in an episode of the web series “Gandii Baat” on their OTT platform, Alt Balaji. The case, registered at the MHB Police Station on October 18, is linked to Season 6 of the series. The complaint was filed by a Borivali-based yoga instructor named Swanil Revaji.
According to reports, similar allegations have been made regarding other series streamed on Alt Balaji, such as “Class of 2017” and “Class of 2020,” which reportedly featured explicit scenes involving minor girls. The Mumbai police have registered a case against Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor under IPC Section 295-A, the IT Act, and Sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act, along with additional charges in two other cases. The complaint specifies that explicit scenes involving minor girls were shown in these series between February 2021 and April 2021, including inappropriate dialogues and scenes where actors, dressed in school uniforms, engaged in indecent acts, which could potentially harm young audiences.
However, the controversial episode is no longer available for streaming on the app. Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor have been producing films and series for years. Meanwhile, Ekta’s drama film “Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2” was released in theaters on April 19, directed by Dibakar Banerjee.
