ESIC Hospital Noida to Launch MBBS Program with 50 Seats from January 2025
Hospital to Expand to 500 Beds, Introduce PG Medical Courses, and Enhance Patient Facilities
The ESIC Hospital in Noida Sector 24 is set to start its MBBS program from January 2025. The hospital had applied for the program two months ago, and now preparations are in full swing. The course will commence with 50 seats. The hospital management has already sent an approval request to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University in Lucknow for initiating the MBBS course. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce postgraduate medical courses like MD and MS after MBBS is approved.
Currently, the hospital offers DNB courses in five disciplines: Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Pediatrics. To support the MBBS course, departments like Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology are required. For the Anatomy department, assistance will be sought from a medical college in Faridabad. Once MBBS is introduced, other facilities for students will also be established.
The ESIC Hospital currently has 350 beds, with a proposal submitted to add 150 more. Once approved, it will become the district’s first 500-bed hospital. The ICU has been expanded with 8 additional beds, and 42 more beds have been added to general wards, bringing the total bed count to 300. This expansion aims to address the challenges faced by patients due to bed shortages, which often led to referrals to other hospitals.
With the proposed addition of 150 beds, both ICU and general ward patients will benefit significantly. ESIC Hospital will have the highest bed capacity among government hospitals in the district, surpassing the 240-bed District Hospital. On average, the hospital sees 1,800 patients daily in its OPD, and the increased capacity is expected to reduce waiting times and referrals significantly.
