Pooja Bhatt Criticizes Navratri Bhajans in Mumbai Metro, Faces Backlash on Social Media

"Actress Questions Public Performances in Metro, Sparking Debate Over Cultural Celebrations in Public Spaces"

Pooja Bhatt often makes headlines for various reasons, and this time, the actress has criticized a group performing bhajans and kirtans inside the Mumbai Metro during Navratri. Sharing a video on X (formerly Twitter), she questioned how such activities could be permitted in public spaces.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows a group inside the Mumbai Metro singing “Bharat ka baccha baccha Jai Shri Ram bolega” and other Gujarati Garba songs. This prompted Pooja Bhatt to express her displeasure. She wrote on X, “How can this be allowed in public spaces? It doesn’t matter if it’s Hindutva pop, Christmas carols, Bollywood blockbusters, or anything else. Public places should not be misused like this. How and why did the authorities allow this?”

In another post, she added, “If we can’t follow basic rules, there’s no hope for maintaining law and order. Political parties have already defiled the city with illegal hoardings, and now the metro is being turned into a party zone. Firecrackers are being lit in the middle of the streets, used as a cover by the troublemakers.”

Pooja Bhatt’s comments sparked backlash, with many trolling her. One user wrote, “You can’t erase our culture, madam. We’ve celebrated our festivals like this for years and will continue to do so. Neither you nor the government can stop us. Focus on real issues like poverty, development, and illegal hoardings. But don’t target Hinduism.”

Another commented, “Oh really? Where does this wisdom disappear during Eid? Why don’t you speak up about animal sacrifices or when namaz is offered five times a day on the streets? Not a single tweet from you on that… too much wisdom being shared now.”

A third user remarked, “I thought your Bigg Boss friend Elvish Yadav had already taught you how the system works in a Hindu-majority country.”
