The Prerna School, built in Vadnagar, Gujarat, at a cost of ₹72 crores, combines ancient Indian knowledge with modern technology. It features a state-of-the-art sports complex developed by the Sports Authority of Gujarat, capable of hosting state-level competitions in badminton, kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis, and football. Players will also receive coaching at this facility. The complex accommodates both indoor and outdoor sports events.
Key Features of the Sports Complex
- Area: Constructed over 34,235 square feet.
- Sports Hostel: Can house 100 boys and 100 girls, offering special rooms, a visitor’s area, rector quarters, a recreation room, pantry, storeroom, washroom, changing rooms, and more.
- Advanced Amenities: Solar systems, RO water systems, CCTV surveillance, and a modern kitchen with advanced appliances.
A Government Initiative Under the Prerna Scheme
Prerna School operates under the central government’s Prerna Scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Education. The program aims to provide students with a value-based curriculum aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It offers a unique blend of India’s cultural heritage and modern technology.
Student Enrollment and Programs
- Weekly Program: Every week, 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) from 10 different districts are selected for a one-week immersive program.
- Eligibility: Students from grades 9 to 12 can register online through the Prerna Portal.
- Communication: Selected candidates are notified via email.

The school boasts a variety of innovative facilities:
- Classrooms: Theme-based and equipped with modern teaching tools.
- Labs: VFX lab, 3D printing and laser cutting room.

Historical Significance and Redevelopment
The Prerna School is housed in the renovated version of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alma mater, initially constructed by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad of Baroda. The school has been reimagined as an advanced educational institution under the guidance of the Archaeological Survey of India.
