Theft at Poonam Dhillon’s Mumbai Home, Painter Arrested
Valuables worth ₹1.5 lakh stolen; accused confesses during police interrogation.
A major incident of theft has been reported at the Mumbai residence of veteran Bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon. According to reports, valuables worth lakhs were stolen by a painter hired for renovation work at her Khar home. The accused, identified as 37-year-old Sameer Ansari, has been arrested by the Khar police.
Details of the Incident
Police have revealed that Sameer Ansari stole diamond earrings worth ₹1 lakh, ₹35,000 in cash, and 500 US dollars from the actress’s residence. The theft occurred between December 28 and January 5, during which Ansari was part of a painting team working in the house.
The actress primarily resides in Juhu, while her son Anmol stays at the Khar residence. Poonam occasionally visits and stays at the Khar property. On January 5, after returning from Dubai, Anmol discovered the valuables missing and immediately informed his mother. Following an internal inquiry involving the housemaid, the actress’s manager, Sandesh Chaudhary, lodged a complaint with the Khar police.
Accused Confesses During Interrogation
Upon receiving the complaint, the police summoned all painters for questioning. During the investigation, Ansari admitted to committing the theft. He had even spent ₹9,000 hosting a party for his co-workers. The police arrested him on January 6, and further investigation is underway.
