During the premiere of Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2: The Rule, a tragic incident occurred at a Hyderabad cinema, where a woman lost her life due to suffocation in a stampede, and her son was hospitalized. The incident led to criticism of the actor on social media. However, it was later revealed that Bunny Vasu, a member of Allu Arjun’s team, met the family of the 39-year-old victim, Revathi, whose son was also injured in the chaos.
Bunny Vasu shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he personally visited the hospital, spoke to the doctors, and assured financial support for the child’s treatment on behalf of the actor. He emphasized that not every update is shared on social media and that the team is committed to supporting the family in every possible way.
Actress Rashmika Mandanna, co-star of Pushpa 2, also expressed her condolences on a related tweet, saying she was deeply saddened by the news.
According to the police, the chaos began when Allu Arjun entered the cinema hall with his personal security. Fans tried to rush in with him, causing a stampede. The victim and her son were pushed by the crowd, leading to suffocation and unconsciousness.
The makers of Pushpa 2, Mythri Movie Makers, issued a statement expressing their sorrow over the incident. They stated, “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the child undergoing treatment. We are committed to supporting them during this difficult time.”
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the Chikkadpally police registered a case under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the actor, his security team, and the cinema management.
