UGC NET 2024 to Include Ayurveda and Biology as New Subjects
"New Subjects Aim to Bridge Modern and Traditional Medical Knowledge in Upcoming December Exam"
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the inclusion of Ayurveda and Biology as new subjects in the National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2024), to be conducted by the National Testing Agency in December. The primary objective behind adding these subjects is to promote alignment between modern medical sciences and India’s traditional medical practices. According to UGC, these subjects will be part of the syllabus in the upcoming December NET exam.
During a recent meeting, UGC decided to offer Ayurveda Biology as an additional subject for candidates in the December 2024 UGC NET exam. Earlier, UGC had also introduced Disaster Management as an optional subject in the NET exam.
UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar highlighted that this change aims to provide students with an opportunity to learn the ancient science of Ayurveda through the Ayurveda Biology subject. For the first time, candidates will have the chance to select this unique subject, which could open new career pathways.
According to Prof. Kumar, studying Ayurveda Biology will allow students to explore India’s traditional knowledge in depth. Those who pursue a Ph.D. in this field will have opportunities to engage in research and teaching in universities, helping other students develop expertise. Although Ayurveda is an ancient subject, it is a new field within the NET exam. This new addition could serve as an excellent career opportunity for first-time candidates in the field.
Many candidates are eagerly awaiting the dates and official notification for UGC NET December 2024. While the notification has not yet been released, the National Testing Agency will post any updates regarding the exam date, registration details, form selection date, admit cards, and tentative exam dates on its official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Candidates should keep an eye on the website for the latest information on the exam schedule and related updates.
