ndian Peacekeepers in South Sudan Honored with UN Medals

A total of 1,182 Indian peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been awarded UN medals for their commendable contributions. Among them are 17 women peacekeepers.

In a significant milestone, Major Divya Tyagi, a uniformed female officer, led the Indian contingent’s march during the award ceremony for the first time. These peacekeepers have been playing a pivotal role in South Sudan, particularly in its flood- and conflict-affected regions, delivering exceptional support and positive impact.
