Terror Suspected in US Back-to-Back Attacks

The United States witnessed back-to-back violent incidents, sparking concerns and investigations.

In the Queens area of New York, a shooting occurred at the Amazura Nightclub at 11:45 PM local time, leaving 11 people injured, with several in critical condition. Witnesses reported multiple gunshots, leading to chaos in the nightclub. New York police have cordoned off the area and are focusing on evacuating and securing the site. The identity and motive of the shooter(s) remain unknown, though two suspects are being investigated.

Orleans Truck Attack

Just a day before the Queens shooting, a horrific truck attack took place in New Orleans. Shamsuddin Jabbar, a 42-year-old former U.S. Army serviceman, drove a pickup truck into a New Year’s crowd, killing 15 and injuring many others. Jabbar’s truck reportedly bore an ISIS flag, and investigations reveal that he had expressed intentions to commit violence in videos found by authorities.

Jabbar’s Background

  • A former Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving from 2007 to 2020.
  • Deployed in Afghanistan from 2009–2010.
  • Worked as a human resources and IT specialist.
  • Faced minor criminal charges in the past and experienced financial difficulties, as indicated in a 2022 email mentioning debts and business losses.

FBI and Ongoing Investigations

The FBI suspects a possible terror connection in both incidents, especially given the ISIS flag found in Jabbar’s vehicle and the presence of potential explosive devices. Investigations continue to determine whether other individuals were involved in orchestrating the attacks.

Both events have raised alarm across the country, prompting heightened security and an intensive probe into possible links to terrorist organizations.
