Terror Suspected in US Back-to-Back Attacks

Orleans Truck Attack
Just a day before the Queens shooting, a horrific truck attack took place in New Orleans. Shamsuddin Jabbar, a 42-year-old former U.S. Army serviceman, drove a pickup truck into a New Year’s crowd, killing 15 and injuring many others. Jabbar’s truck reportedly bore an ISIS flag, and investigations reveal that he had expressed intentions to commit violence in videos found by authorities.

- Deployed in Afghanistan from 2009–2010.
- Worked as a human resources and IT specialist.
- Faced minor criminal charges in the past and experienced financial difficulties, as indicated in a 2022 email mentioning debts and business losses.
FBI and Ongoing Investigations
The FBI suspects a possible terror connection in both incidents, especially given the ISIS flag found in Jabbar’s vehicle and the presence of potential explosive devices. Investigations continue to determine whether other individuals were involved in orchestrating the attacks.
