Vivo Leads India’s Rapidly Growing Smartphone Market, Overtakes Xiaomi and Samsung

"Vivo Emerges as the Top Smartphone Brand with a 19% Market Share, as Xiaomi and Samsung Experience Declines"

The smartphone market in India is growing rapidly, leading to the entry of many new brands. Traditionally dominated by Xiaomi and Samsung, the landscape has recently shifted. According to a new report, the Indian smartphone market grew by 9% in the last quarter, with Vivo emerging as the biggest winner in this competition.

Thanks to the monsoon season and various clearance offers, many people purchased smartphones, both online and from physical stores. Vivo sold over 47 million smartphones this quarter, shipping 9.1 million units, which pushed its market share to 19%, up from 17% last year.

Xiaomi, which was previously at the top, has now slipped to second place, with its market share decreasing from 18% to 17%. They shipped 7.2 million units in the last quarter, marking a 3% drop compared to last year. Samsung also saw a decline, dropping to third place with a market share of 16%, down from 18% last year. They shipped 7.5 million smartphones, compared to 7.9 million last year.

Oppo, another brand owned by the same parent company as Vivo, experienced a remarkable 43% growth, shipping 6.3 million units. Their market share rose from 10% last year to 13% this year. Both Vivo and Oppo increased their product availability online and offline, with models like the Vivo T3 and Oppo K12 being particularly popular.

Meanwhile, Realme, Oppo’s sibling brand, has faced challenges. They shipped only 5.3 million units, down from 5.8 million last year. Although the smartphone market experiences frequent fluctuations, it currently looks quite different from previous trends.
