Historical Epic Love and War to Begin Shooting in Mumbai, Aiming for a March 2026 Release

The highly anticipated film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to begin filming soon. Starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, the film’s historical set has already been constructed at Film City in Mumbai.

According to a recent Bollywood Hungama report, Studio 5 at Film City is now ready for the shoot. The set is designed to capture a historical atmosphere, and Bhansali is scheduled to start filming there on November 7. The first shooting schedule will commence with Ranbir Kapoor, with Vicky Kaushal joining a week later. Alia Bhatt will begin her scenes in December.

The initial schedule includes not only the lead cast but also around 50 additional actors who will portray soldiers. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned in crafting this war epic. To maintain secrecy, only a few trusted team members are permitted on set, ensuring no information about the project is leaked.

Love and War was initially slated for a Christmas release next year, but the release date has now been pushed to March 2026.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last film was Gangubai Kathiawadi, featuring Alia Bhatt in the lead role. Last year, Bhansali also ventured into OTT with the series Heeramandi and is expected to release a second season soon. Additionally, he is set to produce the upcoming film Mann Bairagi.

As for Alia Bhatt, her recent film Jigra performed modestly, earning 55 crore against a 90 crore budget. She starred alongside Vedang Raina in this film and will soon be seen in Alpha and Brahmastra 2. Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, has major projects lined up, including Ramayana and Brahmastra 2.
