Protests Erupt in Lucknow Following the Death of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah

Thousands Gather in Lucknow to Protest Israeli Airstrike Aftermath and Honor Nasrallah's Legacy Amid Calls for Justice Against Israel and the U.S.

Following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, protests broke out in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of people gathered for a demonstration, marching from Chhota Imambara to Bada Imambara. Nasrallah was killed on September 27 in an Israeli airstrike, and despite his death, Israeli air raids continue on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. Nasrallah, who became the Secretary-General of Hezbollah at the age of 30 in 1992, transformed the group into a significant force in the Middle East, making him Israel’s top enemy.

In response to Nasrallah’s death, the Hussainganj Food Street in Lucknow was closed on Sunday in protest. Black flags were raised on homes and shops, and thousands participated in a candlelight march, raising slogans against Israel and the United States. Despite police attempts to halt the procession near Satkhanda, the demonstrators continued to Bada Imambara, where the march concluded. Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad announced three days of mourning for Nasrallah’s death, stating that while one Nasrallah has been martyred, many more will rise in his place.

Protesters trampled on Israeli flags and images of Israeli President Netanyahu as a form of resistance. The march, originally planned to proceed from Karbala Diyannut Daula, was peacefully held from Chhota Imambara. Thousands of men, women, and children participated in the candlelit protest, expressing grief over Nasrallah’s martyrdom.

Maulana Kalbe Jawad condemned Netanyahu as the real terrorist, not Nasrallah, during a speech at a gathering in Rustam Nagar. He emphasized that martyrdom is the highest honor, and that more Nasrallahs will emerge to continue the fight.
