Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on X, saying, “It is a proud moment to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke jury has decided to honor Mithun Chakraborty for his iconic contribution to Indian cinema.” Just a few months ago, the actor was also awarded the Padma Bhushan. In April, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed this honor upon him. After receiving the Padma Bhushan, Mithun Chakraborty expressed his happiness, stating, “I was overwhelmed. When I received the call from the Home Ministry informing me about the award, I was speechless for a minute as I hadn’t expected it.”
Mithun Chakraborty made his acting debut in 1977 with the film Mrigaya, where his powerful performance earned him the National Award for Best Actor. Over his career, he has appeared in more than 350 films. He has worked in iconic movies such as Disco Dancer, Jung, Agnipath, Gunda, Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, and Humse Hai Zamana. His song from Disco Dancer remains a popular party anthem even today.
