70th National Film Awards: Mithun Chakraborty Honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Rishab Shetty Wins Best Actor

The 70th National Film Awards ceremony is being held today at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan. This prestigious event on October 8 will honor several outstanding films and actors with National Awards. A special highlight of the ceremony is the presentation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to legendary Hindi cinema actor Mithun Chakraborty for his significant contributions to Bollywood. All awardees will receive their honors from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
This year, Kannada superstar and director Rishab Shetty has been awarded the Best Actor award, while Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh have both won the Best Actress award. The Best Feature Film award at the 70th National Film Awards went to Aattam, and the Best Director award was presented to Sooraj Barjatya for his film Uunchai, with Neena Gupta winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in the same film. Pavan Malhotra received the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Fauja.

Additionally, Kantara was recognized as the Best Entertaining Feature Film, and KGF: Chapter 2 won awards for Best Action Direction and Best Kannada Film. The awards being given this year are for films released in 2022, delayed by a year due to the pandemic. Nithya Menen earned her Best Actress award for her performance in Thiruchitrambalam, while Manasi Parekh was honored for her role in Kutch Express.

The list of winners also includes Vishal Bhardwaj, who is set to receive the award for Best Music Direction in the Non-Feature Film category for his work in Fursat. The Malayalam film Aattam, directed by Anand Ekarshi, won the award for Best Film, with notable performances by Zarin Shihab, Vinay Forrt, and Kalabhavan Shajohn. The 70th National Film Awards will be broadcast live on YouTube at 3:50 PM for viewers to enjoy.
