Kapil Sharma Wins Global Entertainer of the Year
Shares Insights on Mental Health, Hard Work, and Gratitude
Comedian Kapil Sharma has been honored with the Global Entertainer of the Year Award at the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards. During the event, Kapil shared his thoughts on topics ranging from his popular show, The Kapil Sharma Show, to his personal experiences with depression. In a candid Q&A session, he made some insightful remarks.
When asked about overcoming setbacks and becoming a winner each time, especially in contrast to today’s youth who often struggle with depression and need counseling, Kapil responded, “I believe in focusing on work. Keep working, and everything else is just a byproduct that will come and go. Growing up, we only heard about terms like depression or mental health much later in life. In our childhood, if we didn’t feel like going to school, our father would give us two slaps and send us off to school. Today, people know what’s happening between America and Ukraine, but they wouldn’t know what’s happening in the next room with their family.”
He emphasized reducing time on social media and connecting with people around us. “Wake up each morning, treat every day as a new opportunity, and be grateful to the Almighty,” he added.
Kapil also obliged the audience’s request to sing, performing a Punjabi song he often sings for his wife, leaving the audience delighted.
